Determination of Ferrous in Chromite Ores

  • A method for the determination of ferrous in chromite ores was developed. Based on the verification and screening tests for the original methods in literatures and studying on the dissolution-assistant effect of Li2SO4 (as a hydrotropy agent) and its reaction mechanism, two dissolution systems of H2SO4-H3PO4-V2O5-V2O5-Li2SO4 and H2SO4-H3PO4-Ce(SO4)2-Li2SO4 were introduced. The improved methods have been applied to the determination ferrous in chromite samples with satisfactory results.
